Launching ceremony of vietnam forest museum and scientific workshop “establishment and development of vietnam forest museum"

On 17 December 2010, MARD, Vietnam Forestry Administration (VNForest) cooperate with FIPI to organize the launching ceremony of Vietnam Forest Museum and scientific workshop “Establishment and development of Vietnam Forest Museum"

The launching ceremony and the workshop were presided by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh, Deputy Director General of VNForest; PhD Pham Van Mach, Vice Director of Science Technology and Environment Department of MARD; and PhD Nguyen Phu Hung, Deputy Director General of FIPI.

Moreover, the workshop was also attended by many professors and doctors in forestry sector and other sectors including PhD. Le Thi Minh Ly – member of National Cultural Heritage Committee cum Deputy Director of Cultural Heritage Department under Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism; Prof. PhD Bui Cong Hien – Hanoi National University; Prof. Hoang Hoe – former Director General of Forest Inventory and Planning Institute cum member of Forestry Science Association; Prof. PhD Pham Thi Thuy – Director of Agricultural Biology Center; Mr. Truong Quang Bich – Director of Cuc Phuong National Park; and other agencies and organizations including Vietnam University of Forestry, Agriculture and Rural Development Magazine, Forestry Science Institute of Vietnam, Geology Museum, Bio-Diversity Conservation Department, Biology Museum of Hanoi University of Natural Science under National University of Vietnam, and other international organizations.

At the workshop, Decisions comprising Decision No. 86/2006/QĐ-TTg dated 20 April 2006 of the Prime Minister on approving “Overall Planning of Natural Museum System in Vietnam up to 2020”; Decision No. 91/QĐ-BNN-KH dated 12 January 2010 by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development on establishing Vietnam Forest Museum under Forest Inventory and Planning Institute were announced.

May speeches and presentations were made at the workshop including presentation on “Current status and development orientation of Vietnam Forest Museum” by MA. Quach Quynh Nga – Director of VFM;

“Planning of Vietnam Nature Museum System and relationship between museums in the system” by Trinh Xuan Son – Deputy Director of VFM; “Law documents on conservation and collection of forest specimens” by PhD. Tran The Lien – Director of Nature Conservation Department; “Difficulties and challenges in collection of forest specimens” by MSc. Nguyen Quoc Dung – Forest Inventory and Planning Institute; “Some thinking about Vietnam Forest Museum” by Prof. PhD Võ Quý – Hanoi National University; and the speech on “Formation of Sample Collection of Forest Inventory and Planning Institute” by Professor Hoang Hoe.

Ideas, comments of managers, professors, and scientific researchers about strategy planning and development orientation of forestry museums were acquired and highly appreciated, especially in the field of access and attraction to investment from international organizations.

The launching ceremony of Vietnam Forest Museum and Workshop on “Establishment and Development of Vietnam Forest Museum” was more successful and fruitful than expectation.
