This southern district of Hanoi boasts a remarkable historical, cultural, and revolutionary tradition. It is the birthplace of many prominent figures such as Đô Hồ Đại Vương Phạm Tu, the venerated teacher Chu Văn An – "The Eternal Teacher," Nguyễn Như Đổ, and renowned scholar Ngô Thì Nhậm. Thanh Tri also takes pride in hosting two typically scholarly villages, Nguyệt Áng and Tả Thanh Oai. Echoing Heroic Aspirations In the early 20th century, Thanh Tri became a cradle of revolutionary movements, nurturing the patriotic spirit of generations. In May 1930, Đông Phù Branch – the first Communist Party cell in Hanoi’s suburbs – was established, marking a new chapter in the fight for independence. The district is also home to distinguished revolutionaries such as Đỗ Mười, former General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam; Đỗ Ngọc Du, the first Secretary of Hanoi's Party Committee; and Vương Thừa Vũ, former Chairman of the Hanoi Military Commission. Under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, Thanh Tri’s military and civilians displayed resilience and determination in the resistance wars against the French and Americans. On October 6, 1954, Thanh Tri was fully liberated, marking a historic milestone and ushering in a new era of independence and freedom. Recognizing these great achievements, the Party and State awarded Thanh Tri the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, along with honors for 13 affiliated communes. Steady Progress in the Era of Renewal Building upon its illustrious legacy, the Party and people of Thanh Tri continue to unite in creating a richer and more beautiful homeland. The district boasts dynamic economic growth, and the material and spiritual lives of its residents are constantly improving. It was the first locality in Hanoi to be recognized by the Prime Minister for achieving the advanced new rural standards. On October 5, 2024, the Thanh Tri Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front solemnly celebrated the 70th anniversary of the district’s liberation (October 6, 1954 - October 6, 2024) and received the certificate for "Advanced New Rural District." This significant political event affirmed the district’s patriotism, resilience, dynamism, and creativity over the past 70 years. During the ceremony, Nguyễn Thị Tuyến, Standing Deputy Secretary of Hanoi’s Party Committee, lauded Thanh Tri’s tremendous achievements and emphasized: “To achieve the goal of transforming into a district-level urban area, Thanh Tri must continue fostering solidarity, effectively utilizing its potential and advantages, and mobilizing all resources for socio-economic development, building a modern and civilized city.” A Journey of Pride and Commitment On this journey to build a prosperous and civilized Thanh Tri, the Vietnam Forest Resources Museum is proud to contribute its small yet meaningful part. Situated on this land rich in historical and cultural traditions, the museum strives to become an attractive destination, preserving and promoting the nation’s cultural values while fostering a love for nature and environmental awareness in the community.
